Much like Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen revisited the Generation I story of Kanto, HeartGold and SoulSilver will revisit the story of Johto, with the player's starting area being New Bark Town. While the games' feature several expansions in key areas, the overall plot follows the same direction as Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Like FireRed and LeafGreen could link up with Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald to complete the Pokedex by trading regionally-exclusive Pokemon, HeartGold and SoulSilver can link up with Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum to obtain Pokemon unavailable in Johto and Kanto, such as Starly.

Instruction if there's a problems to loadings (For Pokemon Heart Gold - Soul Silver Patcher No more black screens and freezes...) :
1) Download and extract (uncompressed) the only .exe patch in there.
2) Click 'Patch' on the lower right hand corner
3) Select .nds roms you want to patch, in this case, HS and/or SS
4) Confirm

Follow the directions and it will patch over your previous game.
If you are a NO$GBA user, to make your save file compatible with the newly patched game, you need to go to your Battery folder, find your save file, make a copy of it, and rename it as such:
Original name: 4160 - Pokemon Soul Silver (J)(NiZT).SAV
New name: 4160 - Pokemon Soul Silver (J)(NiZT)_patched.SAV
It really is a pretty good preliminary translation.
